Two weeks ago, the University of Central Florida Student Government found a way to introduce 300 spin scooters
onto the campus, allowing students to move freely from one building to the next without much hassle. But as with any new initiative in a place packed with a massive student body, the risk of things going wrong is high. And so it has been.
As of last Thursday, Channel 9 News reported at least eight accidents, some occurring as a result of improper riding. UCF Police had to stop at least one rider from doing so on the wrong side of the road, then followed that up with an urgent safety video, illustrating how to safely use what was intended to be a campus convenience.
