Recognizing NursesPosted on: May 6, 2020
By now, you’ve probably encountered a story or two about these medical heroes, women and men who either sing to their patients like Tabitha Newborn, or demonstrate as much love for their patients as they do for the well being of their colleagues, like they so often see at Advent Health. But the president and CEO of Advent Health’s Central Florida division may have said it best when he shifted his language from simply talking about a month of appreciation to celebrate nurses across the nation, and started talking about recognizing nurses from around the world for an entire year.
It’s Nurses Week as well as Mother’s Day, so it’s fitting to recognize their contributions. Nurses are with us as we cry tears of joy and also tears of sadness. They’re healers, teachers, counselors, comforters and friends. It’s only fitting that this has been declared the International Year of the Nurse. I’m awed and grateful for nurses’ courage, grace and selflessness through this crisis.
