When sports fans think of NASCAR, they think of All Star Racing, with famous names like Chase Elliott and Jimmie Johnson. But when COVID-19 puts crashes into a normal racing season, drivers and sports companies have to come up with alternative ways to entertain and keep themselves busy. Enter virtual racing, where accidents are less fatal and personal injuries are less severe
On Sunday, eNASCAR promoted the Toyota Owners 150 iRacing Pro Invitational Series through a virtual Richmond Raceway. The platform for digital racing has caught on with a number of fans who are finding it worthy of tuning in.
NASCAR has also said it hopes to continue competition on the iRacing format even after real-life racing returns. Byron said he’d like to also see it, particularly during off-season.
