Since 1958, when President Eisenhower made it official, May 1 has represented Law Day, a recognition of the strength and elasticity of the American legal system. This annual recognition is sustained through the American Bar Association
, with 2020 serving as an opportunity to recognize the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment, “commemorating the centennial of the transformative constitutional amendment that guaranteed the right of citizens to vote would not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of sex. American women fought for, and won, the vote through their voice and action.”
Continuing a longstanding tradition of presidential proclamations on Law Day, President Trump had this to say regarding the centennial of the 19th Amendment.
As we mark these milestones, we pay tribute to the courageous spirit of the trailblazers who made this achievement possible, and take inspiration from their righteous struggle as we continue working to root out and destroy injustice.
