Gross Negligence on CruisePosted on: March 10, 2020
Within 24 hours of Fortune suggesting that a wave of pending coronavirus-related lawsuits was going to have an impact, a Florida couple from the docked cruise near San Francisco filed suit against the ship they haven’t even left yet, citing gross negligence and unnecessary exposure when there were ports that passengers could have been allowed to fly home from. At issue is that the ship had notified “previous” passengers of possible exposure, but not those in the midst of boarding, and then, as concerns increased, never even gave passengers the option of disembarking when they docked in Honolulu, the day after that email to previous passengers had gone out. With more than 700 people infected, the lawsuit may draw a similar response from others.
