Florida Mayor FatalityPosted on: February 26, 2020
Earlier this week, the mayor of Jasper, Florida, a town of less than 5,000 residents, died in a single car accident when his vehicle hit a traffic barrier and he went into “some of type of medical episode.” Assessments of the crash indicate that Mr. Darnell Lumpkin had not been wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident and died at the scene. The tragedy of Mayor Lumpkin, with regard to having a “medical episode” while driving, is a risk for every driver. Among so many reasons, this is one rationale for the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicle division to insist that all drivers and passengers buckle up. They don’t insist on this for amusement. They insist on this because it’s the law.
