Unlike the cases of Ebola in recent years, talk of the coronavirus, and the affiliated concern that has arisen between Asia, Europe, and parts of the Western Hemisphere has now become a metaphor of anything else that has the potential to get out of hand. For example, earlier this week, when the National Transportation Safety Board reviewed a Tesla crash from March of 2018, they concluded that when a partially automated vehicle steered itself into a concrete wall, the accident could have been avoided if the operator of the vehicle had not been driving distracted.
The chairman of the NTSB suggested that “distracted driving” had the potential to be an epidemic, going so far as to say this:
If we don’t get on top of it, it’s going to be a coronavirus.
That may be true, but Tesla is also paying heavily in the free market, as stocks are slowly dropping.
