Black Friday Fraud

Google Trends / Speeding Ticket / Traffic School / Beers and Gordon P.A.Going out to shop, on the Friday after Thanksgiving, feels daunting to many, but an age old tradition to others. Vendors trying to make life easier for those in either camp have taken advantage of online options, providing just as many digital deals as physical, in-store sales. In the physical world, fraud was harder to pull off, with ack alley dealers and trenchcoat sales being comically out of the ordinary. But in the digital world, fraud is much easier to achieve, with Amazon-type companies working to look as similar to the real thing as any other online store front.

Here are three of the best ways to avoid online fraud as you shop today.

1. Stay with vendors you already know are trustworthy.
2. Only buy from vendors whose website begins with a secure lock (httpS).
3. Check the reviews of any unknown vendor as a lack of comment history could indicate a lack of credibility.
