December 5 marks International Volunteers Day, a celebration and a recognition of the work and contributions given by first responders in a crisis. The day is mandated through the United Nations General Assembly as a way for volunteers to share and promote the work they do across the globe in large and small communities. So in an effort to acknowledge opportunities in our local area, we would like to encourage Oviedo residents to check out the volunteer center where many have and still do offer their time and services to the Oviedo Police Department.
According to the new city site:
The 4,200-square-foot C.O.P.S. and Volunteer Center brings many police services, displays, educational brochures, youth programs, demonstrations, community relations programs, and information about the City directly to the public in the convenience of Oviedo Marketplace mall.
Every role that volunteers play in any capacity are an aid to those in need. And those who serve the Oviedo Police Department with their time are no exception. Find a way to give back in your community today or thank someone else who does.
