When our firm makes reference to “board certified civil trial attorneys,” this really is an important distinction. The Florida Bar, governed by the Supreme Court of Florida, is the one and only organization that licenses attorneys in the state of Florida and allows those attorneys to practice law in our state and local courts.
In 1998, an 18-year-old Italian woman was picked up by her driving instructor, a man twice her age, driven to an isolated location, and forcefully raped. Though she reported it and the man was arrested, an appeal went all the way to the Italian Supreme Court which overturned the case alleging that because the young lady wore tight jeans, she was not the victim of rape, but the active participant in consensual sex.
