Many of us driving throughout both Orange and Seminole Counties use 17/92 on a regular basis we get frustrated by the clogging of traffic from orange cones and torn up cement. This new development does not minimize road construction, but we encourage readers to keep an eye on what areas of the road are currently being worked on as well as areas that are due for upcoming construction.
Last week, Seminole County unveiled a new, collaborative project with the Florida Department of Transportation reducing the amount of harmful nutrients from dirty storm waters that enter Lake Jesup. This endeavor is referred to as the Nutrient Reduction Facility, or NuRF, and the investment will save FDOT nearly $4 million in costs on the eventual expansion of State Road 17/92. Had this project not been successful, the department believes that it would have had to build a pond and hurt local businesses, which they say will be less impacted now.
