Last month, we reported that several families from the victims of the Las Vegas shooting were filing wrongful death suits against the police department for lagging response times, which we noted was a difficult case to make. Police arrived on the tragic scene within six minutes while response times in major metropolitan areas can range anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour, with a national average of eleven minutes. That case is still pending. But this month, a lawsuit was filed on behalf of more than 450 injured victims against the property owners at the site of the shooting.
The victims accused the hotel operator MGM Resorts International and its subsidiary Mandalay Corp, which owns the hotel, of failing to properly monitor Paddock’s activities, train staff members and employ adequate security measures. The festival goers also alleged Live Nation was negligent for failing to provide adequate exits and properly train staff for an emergency.
